I promise we aren't mean here! We just have a lot of rules so that nobody has to get mean.
I. Out of character
You may only have one character per account. If you'd like to create another character then you have to create another account as well. You can have as many accounts as you can keep active.
You must post your first post within a week or your account may be deleted without warning. If you have posted before and leave for over two weeks without posting a thread telling us why you'll be gone then your account may be at risk of being deleted as well. We don't mind some inactivity but nobody likes a board clogged with accounts that are never used.
Your display name must be the name of that account's character and not your alias. You can only have a purely out of character account if you are a staff member. Ordinary members can only go by their aliases in the chatbox and in OOC threads. Also, your alias must not contain any numbers or symbols.
After you sign up, put your display name in nice, neat capslock. I have bad OCD and I think this looks nice on the boards. x3
No chatspeak in your posts, and try to use the best grammar and spelling that you can. lol U cnt rlly reed stuf lyke dis 2 easly, plus it doesn't make you look that clever.
Your characters may only be of the canine variety. Yes, that includes wolves and coyotes but please keep those fairly uncommon. You may create one wolf character for now. If you're looking for a horse or cat rp then this isn't the place for you. Perhaps you should check out some of the sites that have been advertised on our ad boards.
You can only begin role-playing once your character is accepted. This shouldn't take very long so please be patient. Also, you must have an account to rp here. Sorry, guests. It shouldn't take that long to sign up either.
Liquid time is permitted here. This means your character can be in multiple threads/places at once, as long as you can keep up with them. All characters age one year every real New Year. If you'd like to keep a specific character at a certain age then please contact me (Forest) about this and we can possibly arrange something.
What happens in role-play stays in role-play. Don't get butt-hurt about what happens IC ( in character ) since it is entirely fictional. Live on here by If it's going to hurt me in real life, I'm not going to rp it. We don't want you to explode about this. It's fiction. If it bothers you so much then perhaps you need to go out and get a grip on yourself or not do it in the first place.
Do not harass other members. We have absolutely zero tolerance for such things. This means no sexism, racism or homophobia fired towards your fellow Ambience role-players. We want our forum to remain a safe, delightful haven for everyone and nothing short of that.
And here is the most important rule; have fun. If you're not having fun then what's the point of this forum at all? There is no point if you aren't enjoying yourself, so get into it! Interact, play, write, flow! That's what it's all about! C:
II. In character
There are to be no unrealistic coat or eye colors on your characters, nor are there to be any superpowers, magic, etc. No wings, horns, flippers or earrings either, please. Anything you can find on a canine in real life however is permitted. (this excludes Mystics)
Characters with "Warriors names" will not be accepted. This means no Lionheart, Greypaw, Bluestar or any other two words smashed together to create a title. AMB is not a Warriors rp, and if that's what you're looking for then I suggest going to the lovely Virtual Warrior World or something of the like.
And while we're on the topic of Mystics.. coming soon
No Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu characters please. This means no characters that are entirely perfect, or that have only good traits or only bad ones. Nothing and nobody is like that in real life, right? Exactly. We won't accept your characters if they aren't a little of both. They can have more bad traits than good ones or more good ones than bad, but they must have at least one of each, please.
Graphic mating, birthing and gore is strictly to be kept off of the boards due to our PG-13 rating and the Proboards TOS. If your characters want to frick frack, graphically birth or kill one another with major detail then you've gotta either fade to black and/or move to a private messaging system with your role-play partner. Okay? Okay.
Characters may curse ( this is the South after all ) but please keep that to a minimum. That means no rough 'n toughs dropping the f-bomb in every single post ( although an occasional "fuck!" is alright ). Also, we do not let you use the n-word or other terms that could offend anyone in real life. Bitch of course is tolerated anytime if not always used to harass since obviously, a female dog is called a bitch.
We require at least five sentences per IC post, which may seem like a lot but really isn't. We want you to actually try, not just throw together something like Rosco buried the bone. If that's how you wanna role-play then please look elsewhere for your forum. Remember quality not quantity. I've actually seen some big posts worse than any small ones ever were.
There is to be no power-playing or god-modding. This means no controlling characters that aren't yours, killing other characters without their player's permission or making your characters be a doggy Superman. If you need further examples of these two rp crimes then Google them.
I'm a really sarcastic young guy who's rather neurotic and always mistaken for a girl online. I like Tumblr, Star Trek, writing, graphic-designing, cosplay and a lot more. Besides my alias here (Forest), you can call me Bones. Others my age call me grandpa a lot, probably because I have good tastes, a working brain and a wider vocabulary than they. Yay.
AMBIENCE is a semi-fantasy PG-13 canine rpg which takes place in the fictional town of Shorebridge, Georgia. We have no wordcount but require you to write at least 5 sentences per IC (in character) post. We are loosely plotted and encourage members to shape the future of such through their role-play. This is a place where we welcome anyone, from confused beginner to avid writer who's been role-playing their entire life, so why not bound on in? --- AMB is best viewed using a Chrome or Firefox browser. Please excuse our messy appearance, we are currently working on our theme.

It's November and most of the trees have turned yellow, red and gold. The air is cool and the wind blows more often than it did in the summertime, bringing with it the promise of a chilly winter and stirring up the piles of colorful leaves, carrying them here and there, much to the dismay of some of the humans. • year one
