"Nothing Else Matters" (Open)

Shane sat in a quiet spot out front of the mall, she was deep in thought…something normal for her. She had been to this place often and knew it Inside out, her partner was still gathering things from the car, you know, human things..wallet , etc. This day had been as normal as any other but for an odd reason she felt off, down even. This was the day that her old partner would blow out candles on a cake with all her friends and work mates. She got to spend time with the other canines, not that any of them talked to her. Maybe it was just the thought of it all that made her blue.

She did not have much longer to sit and dwell on old memories, her partner came walking along the lot, stopping in front of her. Her partner's name was Valentine, your average human but with a little more sass. Soon she started following Valentine inside, she looked around the area for signs of trouble, as was her habit. Shane saw humans and canines, nothing different. Shame, she was now starting to feel a bit restless.

Where were they heading? The coffee place of course. Shane half froze, the thought of the other dogs did not help how she was feeling today. Normally it was easy to brush off the remarks and judging glances, not today, however. It made her heart pound and her legs tense up. Shane whined at Valentine, it was like she knew what was wrong and told Shane to go wander whilst she spent time with her friends.Phew that was lucky. Shane turned the other way, lumbering along the large hall ways of the shop.

She said nothing as she went along her little walk about "No you didn't feel up to dealing with the looks, not today at least" as if saying that to herself would stop the awful feeling of injured pride. They'd gotten to her, HER of all canines. Her brow furrowed into a frown and her tail hung low. Yeah okay so today was an off day, nothing normal about it. Had she really thought this day had been so normal before? What a crazy thought.

[ENKIDU]

Enkidu

Earlier the same morning, a boy and his dog had also entered the mall for different reasons. He had a hoped to find a classmate there. Someone who actually wanted to hang out with him for whatever reason. People didn't really talk to him a lot, so when someone said they wanted to get to know him out of the blue, he was suspicious, but he agreed to meet them regardless.

It probably was a trap, which kept the boy alert and his dog tense. Maybe someone was finally fed up with seeing him zombie his way through school and was ready to bully him. If it wasn't a trap, they were most likely doing it out of sympathy, which is far worse in his opinion. It was better to be considered equal enough to be talked down to or beat up than less enough for someone to feel obligated to try to befriend you. The schoolmate made the error of telling him what time to meet up. Being blind his entire life, time was hardly relevant to him. When he got to the meeting place and asked for the time, he found that he had arrived hours early and gave an annoyed sigh.

Turning to his dog and ruffling the batty ears on his head, he unhooked the chain to the harness. Enkidu understood then that they had arrived either too late or too early. The boy was giving him an opportunity to explore the area while they waited or before they headed out and meet some new dogs. If only it were that easy. If anyone gotten stares and judgemental remarks, it was Enkidu. Humans looked at him like he was a diseased stray or a monster. Dogs either saw him as hideious, hilarious, or horrifyng. Whats more was he didn't exactly have the most friendly facial expression and posture. He was completely mute and mechanical as he walked, only to entertain his owner. Their comments didn't even phase him anymore.
