back home for dinner
This wasn't her home and she didn't understand as to why she was even here. MR. Tucket would probably be looking for her soon. Even though he allowed her to roam around the farm without worry, INishka had the feeling she has wandered a bit too far away for his comfort. SHe had never been restricted to a small swathe of land. In fact, the place she roamed had to be over 100 acres of grazing field for the cattle, sheep, and other livestock. And then there was the vast farmland that grew just about anything that could grow in Georgia.
Or maybe that was all the making-up of INishka's fantasy-bound mind. Whatever it was, it sure did sound just as pleasant as the real place she and her family lived upon. -- It was a very lovely place, shroud by only one road that led back into the homey city of Shorebridge. The entire place was barren of any trees; with all simplicity, it was an extensive swathe of plains. A bit boring, if it is thought on long enough.
While her mind was focused on her home, her body kept a steady pace, ears occasionally flicking to whatever stray sound would be cast toward her. Inishka was quite relaxed, thinking about the one place she would always be able to call home. Everyone and everything at that place seemed to be in an eternal state of tranquility; their bodies and minds at a perfect solace.
Nothing bad ever happened at that place with Mr. Tucket and her family. Maybe that's why she loved it so much; the peace and quiet.
She had been within the city with Mr. Tucket before... She didn't like it much at all. It was too busy, for Inishka's quiet country-life taste. She had been trained well enough to not be afraid of the large machines that she would encounter in the city, just as any other working dog should be.
Finally brought out of her reminiscing by the strong bellow of a crow who was perched upon the tracks that Inishka followed, she let out a rather brisk bark to it. It was left unfazed by INishka's bark of warning. Her head moved to look her it, brown eyes blinking as she came to a halt close to it.
"A brave bird you are," she chuckled to it.
After only getting the response of a head tilt and a threatening flap of the wings, Inishka chuckled toward it once more.
"I'm apparently not very intimidating, am I?" she pondered to the bird jokingly.
She began her path once more, brushing the crow off easily. She only took a few steps past the bird before it let out another shriek to the dog. Her head flicked to look back it once more. It was now following her.
"Silly bird," she muttered to it with a grin as she continued.
The winds were crisp, brushing harshly against Inishka's long coat. While the crow continued its follow and Inishka continued her aimless wandering, the grass swayed with the autumn breeze. The blades were a discolored shade of green, seeming to have been lacking of water for quite some time.
Where's the rain these days? INishka began thinking to herself, eyes focused upon the grass below her paws.
Suddenly as her head shifted upward from the grass, she remembered what her owner had always told her; "Always be back for your dinner, Inishka." Looking to the sky, the sun was already beginning to lower itself and the rays were starting to become a deeper yellow. SHe knew she had best turn back and head home now, so she would be back for her dinner.
However much she wanted to continue, INishka forced her body around and back the way she came. The crow continued to follow her, its charcoal-colored feathers shimmering within the light.
